Join us for the ride.

Learning how to ride a horse is a unique experience for children and adults alike. At Mottingham Farm Riding Centre, we teach horse riding exclusively outdoors, allowing our riders to experience this amazing sport in a natural, yet safe environment.

Our classes take place either in our outdoor school or one of our eight fields, most of which are also used to turn out our horses on their days off or over night. This means our horses and ponies are “working from home” and therefore very relaxed in these large open spaces.

Meet some of our horses

  • George

Calm and wise, George is the perfect horse for beginners and advanced riders. He is patient as a saint, and comfortable as a sofa.

  • Billy

Mostly sweet and sometimes cheeky, Billy is a great horse for riders of all abilities. He is a keen jumper and loves to canter through our fields.

  • Polo

Polo is a professional. He’s been doing his job for a long time and knows it inside out, a real schoolmaster, patient yet energetic.

  • Murphy

Murphy is a sensitive boy. He is young and still learning his craft, but for an experienced rider he manages to impress with his willingness to work hard, while also showing lots of patience in group rides with children.

  • Gladys

Gladys is a beauty and she knows it. She’s a confident mare with bundles of energy, a wonderful all-rounder who loves to jump and is skilled at dressage.

  • Mac

Mac is a sweetheart and great for beginners as well as intermediate riders. He loves a cuddle but also likes to have a cheeky snack on a bit of grass while he’s waiting his turn, so watch out for this one!

  • Whispa

Whispa is a lovely mare with a sensitive soul but plenty of sass. She is gaining confidence with her jumping and proving to have a good pop on her.
